Beginning January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical supports and security updates,' Microsoft said.'Internet Explorer 11 is the last version of Internet Explorer, and will continue to receive security updates, compatibility fixes, and technical support on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10.
The software has experienced many problems over the years, with poor security necessitating regular fixes and downloaded updates. Of interest is that Windows 8 will no longer be supported. This particular operating system proved unwieldy, unpopular, and could hardly match its predecessor, Windows 7. In fact it was not long after its release that Windows 8.1 upgrade took place. A new browser known as "Edge" is now available with a number of new features which users should find handy. This however is only available for Windows 10, Microsoft's latest Windows operating system.
